Men and Women,

Young and Old,

Poor and Rich,

From the cities to the barrios,

Diverse cultures and situations,

We, the lay missionary community,

Inspired by Blessed Marie Eugenie,

United in an experience with a people
working towards a liberating education and with a vision of a transformed Christian Filipino society,

Offer our lives in the spirit of missionary zeal to become one with Christ and His Church as we answer the call to love, to serve, to liberate.

In the 1960’s The Religious of the Assumption, through the schools and communities they direct, formed student associations called the Auxiliary Missionaries of the Assumption (AMA) which is their way of responding to the call of Vatican II for more lay participation in Church activities and programs.

In 1986 in the Philippines , college graduates and young professionals who had been part of A.M.A. formed the Associate Missionaries of the Assumption – Philippines . The change in the name and the formation of the organization emphasized its identity as the lay partners of the Religious of the Assumption in the Philippines . In 1997, the A.M.A. – Philippines Foundation, Inc. (AMA-Phil.) was established with the objective of ensuring the stability of the organization.

The A.M.A. (long-term) Volunteer Program (AVP) is the central program of the organization. As of 2003, it has formed and fielded a total of 310 young people forming sixteen (19) batches of volunteers to a total of fifty receiving communities composed of institutions, schools, non-government or church organizations. A good number of these communities are a member of the network of schools and institutions connected with the Religious of the Assumption.

Aside from the AVP, AMA-Phil. also engages itself in the formation of young Filipinos and foreigners, particularly through the following programs:

Japanese Alternative Tour (JAP Tour)
Filipino - Japanese Immersion Tour (Fil - Jap Tour)
Short-term Volunteer Program
Retreats and Recollections for the Young (RRY)
